Long, pitched and hipped platform awnings are carried on broad Y-shaped brackets, decorated with large circles, mounted on plain iron columns with ornately moulded capitals and bases. At the north end of the station the platforms terminate at the entrance to Knaresborough Tunnel which has stone portals surmounted by a deeply dentilled cornice and parapet. the eastern end of the tunnel is much plainer and is set in a cutting flanked by conctere retaining walls. Adjacent to the west entrance of the tunnel is a water tank and tank house that once supplied water to the platform-end water column. |
