  • July 30th: Settle-Carlisle Historic Photos CD-ROM released. See the www.nvmdigital.com site for full details. The CD-ROM contains original photographic images from the 1869 - 1876 construction phase.

  • July 4th. A review of the information given in "Events in the history of the line" has been started. Cross-references to information reported in the magazines, local newspapers and other sources, are being added as the first step in providing traceability, as an aid for other researchers.

  • June 16th: Mallerstang panorama added to Ais Gill - Kirkby Stephen page. May 29th: Garsdale Panorama added. Garsdale - Aisgill pics all replaced with new photographs. 
  • May 23rd -A page of original 1870 Settle Carlisle material images has been added, courtesy of Worldofstereoviews. More will follow soon so keep checking the site for updates.

  • September 30th: Some pictures of Cumwhinton Station added (Armathwaite to Carlisle page), with some text and grid references. At NVM Digital we're concentrating all our efforts on the forthcoming S and C CD-ROM but when it is finished I will be uploading a wealth of new material to this site!

This will contain details of the organisation of the construction project and have links to some of the details of the social history of the project - the construction accidents etc.

  • 7th April - Updates to the Settle - Horton pages and Horton - Ribblehead pages. Also, the Coniston Fells CD is now available - Follow the links to the NVM Digital Site. 
  • 9th March - More text added to the Introduction and Settle Junction pages. A general site review has now been started and as part of this review, all font sizes are being reduced. There won't be too many new pictures for a while (thanks to the Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak) but a great deal of new historical information will be gradually added, starting off with the Southern end of the line. The next new project for 2001 for my S and C page is to produce a Digital Terrain Model of the line, allowing 3d feature mapping. 
  • 5th of March more pictures and text were added to the Armathwaite to Carlisle page although the page still requires some additional work. 
  • 27th February - A copy of the January to May 19th Settle-Carlisle Timetable has been added. Dalesbus link also added. 
  • 24th February - Photographs of the restored interior of Ribblehead Station have been added. 
  • 17th February - Thanks to some winter sunshine photos of Long Meg sidings and Eden Lacy Viaduct have been added (See the Langwathby to Armathwaite section) 
  • 1st February - Some new material added to the Settle - Horton and Horton - Ribblehead pages. 
  • 31st January - Some extra pictures and text have been added to the Horton to Ribblehead page. Also, one new picture has been added at the end of the Ribblehead page. 
  • 29th January - The Settle - Carlisle map has been changed from a .jpg to a .gif with transparency now added and this should give much faster loading. Also, the address from which you can order the Cumbria Amentities Trust CD-ROM "A pictorial tour of the Coniston Copper Mines" is now given in the Industrial Archaeology Index. 
  • 11th January - Industrial archaeology section - A feature on the manufacture of coal gas has been added. 
  • 6th January - Work now started on the Langwathby to Carlisle section - Some photos and text covering Lazonby have now been added. 
  • 30th December - More views to the new panoramas section (created using MGI Photovista) and also some new photos to the Dent Head to Dentdale section. 
  • 21st December - More photos of the remains of the viaduct construction works - Link to the excellent Multimap site added.

  • 29th July 2000: More photos and text were added to the split Ribblehead and Blea Moor sections. My hit counter mysteriously reset itself to 50! 
  • 28th of July 2000: The Ribblehead and Blea Moor sections were split and some new images of between Blea Moor sidings to the tunnel were added.
