At the top of the gill are the extensive remains
of the Blakethwaite Lead smelter.the Blakethwaite mines are about
half a mile futher northwards. The smelter and the remains of
the associated Peat Store (Peat was used as the fuel for smelting)
are in the course of being restored. |
