Publicising the line

The scenic beauties of the line were utilised for publicity purposes from the very start of operations and the Midland Railway were aware of the value of promoting the journey over the line to Scotland as as a pleasurable experience. This value was ignored in recent years but in this feature we chart the beginnings of the  attempts to promote the journey for its own sake.
