| The use of the stations as jumping off points for walks from the line was recognised by the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line whose dedicated walks leaders have led many a thousand walkers over walks varying from pleasant strolls to hard slogs at the maximum altitudes available on the surrounding hills, and in all weathers. | ||
